This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Due to the nature of the role, part time and job share arrangements may be considered, subject to the requirement that full-time hours are fully covered (or business needs are met).
Job description Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) Accommodationis responsible forprovidingService Family Accommodation (SFA) in the UK and Europe. This includes the management of around 47,000 SFA properties for Service Personnel and their families; major SFA upgrades and other improvements; providing a comprehensive SFA repair and maintenance service; managing SFA allocation; and overseeing the move in and move out of personnel from SFA properties and management of private leased homes in the UK and Europe through partner organisations. The Accommodation Directorate attracts close and frequent Ministerial and media interest, and Defences ambitions for the quality of service and pace of delivery for Service Personnel and their families living in Service Family Accommodation are high.
The Project Managerwilllead and manage the end-to-end delivery of accommodation related projects within the Service Family Accommodation (SFA) portfolio, ensuring that outputsmeet quality,timeand budget expectations.
The Project Manager willbe responsible forco-ordinating cross functional teams, assuring supplier performance and driving improvements to the housing experience forService Personnel, theirfamiliesand other eligible users of SFA.
Operating at a Senior Executive Officer (SEO) level, the Project Manager will supportstrategic priorities, ensure compliance with MOD and government standards andcommitmentsand contribute to thecontinuous improvement of housing services across the Defence Estate
Person specification The post holder should haveexperience, knowledge and demonstratable skills in the following areas:
Essential - Proven project management experience.
- Demonstratable experience in supplier / contract management, including assurance against KPIs, handling underperformance, and supporting remediation.
- Experience using project documentation tools, (e.g. RAID logs, highlight reports, risk registers, delivery dashboards)
- Ability to manage complex or multi-site projects, balancing competing priorities, risk and dependencies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable - Public sector or housing background.
- Knowledge of JSP 375 Safe Systems of Work.
- A construction related building professional qualification e.g HND Building Services
- Experience in contracting through Frameworks e.g. Crown Commercial Services

- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with MOD stakeholders and Industry Partners and gain their trust and respect.

- A Prince or AMP qualification is desirable but not essential.The successful candidate will be supported to gain an appropriate Project Management qualification within 18 months.

To note - The future delivery model for this team is currently under review and may change as part of potential organisational developments. Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and working from home as part of a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement. All office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to site capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD workplace, will also count towards this level of office attendance. The Civil Service Judgement Test is not bankable and therefore must be taken on every vacancy where it is applied.
Should you be invited to complete the online tests, please allow sufficient time to complete the tests and the remainder of the full application form; only candidates who are successful at the test stage will be invited to complete the remainder of the application by clicking Submit Application. The tests are not timed, as they work by giving you harder questions if you answer the previous question correctly, and easier if you get it wrong. Candidates that reach the minimum required pass mark will have their results saved as a banked score against the following tests:

When a candidate has a banked score theyre not asked to re-take the same test providing it is set at the same level. Scores will be banked for a 6 month period from the date of test completion. If a candidate is invited to take the same test against multiple vacancies, the banked score will be recognised against all vacancies and all active applications will progress.
CSJT scores cannot be banked as each test is generated from the behaviours required for a specific role which will vary between recruitment campaigns.
