Disability Network at DIO
The DIO Disability Network provides staff with a disability and those with caring responsibilities associated with a disability, a trusted and safe environment to share and raise awareness, present issues and concerns and seek deliverable and practical solutions across all levels of the department, ensuring that all staff are supported within the workplace.
The Disability Network also enables DIO to improve the way we attract, support and retain colleagues with visible and hidden disabilities along with caring responsibilities enabling them to continue high performance and excelling their career within DIO.
The introduction of the Sunflower Lanyard scheme into MOD to highlight invisible disabilities amongst colleagues is a recent success for this network. International Day for Persons with Disabilities on 3 December is also a key date for this network’s promotional activities. The network is supported by the DIO Disabilities Champion and works in conjunction with the MOD wide disability networks to continuously improve support provided and align with the lived experience of colleagues.
