An opportunity has arisen for the right individual to join the Sage Finance Team as a Senior Finance Automation Analyst on a Fixed Term Contract. Reporting to the Finance Innovation & Automation Director, this is a unique opportunity to deliver significant value to Sage by leading the coordination of the Finance Citizen Developer Programme - its project portfolio, community, events and governance checkpoints - alongside the hands-on design, implementation and maintenance of automation solutions within the Finance Function. The role is central to sustaining delivery momentum and colleague engagement through the programme's transition to the global Power Platform Citizen Developer model, driving step change improvements in customer, colleague and supplier experience and the release of financial benefit through efficiency improvements.

Skills, know-how and experience:
• Relevant experience developing applications/solutions for a global finance team.
• Proficiency in automation tools and technologies using one or more of the following methodologies - Robotics Process Automation, Workflow Automation, Application Development
Technical / professional qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or other equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience (4+ years) of working with varied and complex data sets, building ETL (extract transform load) processes using scripting language (such as SQL, Python) and use of tools incl. Alteryx.
• Previous experience with Low Code technologies (such as MSFT Power Platform, Alteryx) or software config tools like SharePoint, Dataverse or similar.
• Experience using the above-mentioned tools for developing custom applications.

This is an FTC to end of November 2027. This is a hybrid role based 3 days per week from a Newcastle office.

Key Responsibilities

Summary of role
The Senior Finance Automation Analyst is a key role within Sage Finance, responsible for designing and delivering automation solutions across the Finance function while supporting the Finance Citizen Developer Programme. Reporting to the Finance Innovation & Automation Director, you'll help drive process efficiency and improve the experience of colleagues, customers and suppliers through automation, data and AI-enabled solutions.

What I will be doing
You'll work directly with Finance teams to identify automation opportunities, document processes and design, build and implement solutions using tools such as Power Platform, Alteryx, SQL and Python. You'll support projects through testing, deployment and hyper-care, monitor existing automations and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
You'll facilitate process discovery workshops, analyse business requirements and help deliver solutions that reduce manual effort, improve data quality and create measurable business value across the Finance function. You'll also support the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, including AI capabilities, to accelerate Finance transformation.
In addition, you'll coordinate the day-to-day Finance Citizen Developer Programme, including idea intake, pipeline planning, governance and portfolio reporting. You'll build engagement across the community through bootcamps, hackathons, training sessions and regular forums, while maintaining the Finance AI & Automation Hub as a central source of guidance and support.
You'll also act as the Finance interface to the global Power Platform Citizen Developer Programme, ensuring solutions meet governance standards through code reviews, deployment controls and appropriate documentation. Coaching and supporting Citizen Developers and exploring new automation technologies will also form an important part of the role.

What we are looking for
We're looking for someone with strong experience delivering automation or technology solutions within Finance, combined with the ability to coordinate projects, stakeholders and initiatives across multiple teams and regions. You'll have hands-on experience with automation, workflow or application development and be confident working with complex data and solving business problems through technology.
Experience with technologies such as Microsoft Power Platform, Alteryx, SQL, Python, Dataverse or SharePoint is important, alongside a good understanding of databases, ETL processes and application development. You'll also bring strong project management, problem-solving and communication skills, with the confidence to facilitate workshops, training and stakeholder discussions with both technical and non-technical audiences.
A relevant degree or equivalent qualification is preferred, together with around four or more years' experience working with automation, complex data or application development. Experience coaching others and supporting a Citizen Developer or continuous improvement community would be particularly valuable.
