Mental health is a very serious ongoing concern in society today. In fact, according to the WHO over 25% of all humans shall be faced with a mental health challenge at some point in their lives.
And the challenges that arise from poor mental health have significant impacts both on the individual, but also for organisations, who may already be struggling with low productivity in the workplace (our research found employees admitted to being productive for less than 30 hours a week).
So, what can People Companies do to ensure they’re supporting employees’ mental wellbeing effectively?
In the video below, the Executive Vice President for Talent Capability and Culture at Sage, Jorge Aisa Dreyfus talks through the support Sage has put in place to help all its colleagues.
Every colleague at Sage has access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which is available 24/7, 365 days a year via phone, app, email, or instant message. This service provides colleagues and their families with free, confidential support and consultation to help them with a range of personal and professional issues, such as emotional support/crisis, family/relationship issues, health worries, money worries, housing, legal concerns, work-life balance, work conflicts, major life events, and substance abuse.
Colleagues can confidentially connect with a trained counsellor who can provide immediate, in-the-moment support or structured short-term counselling (8 sessions per issue per year) to help manage whatever situation they are going through. The EAP service can also provide practical support and information, personalised research and resources, coaching, manager consultation and more.
