As a Detached Youth Worker, you’ll deliver a wide-ranging programme of personal and social education to young people in Camden and make a real difference to their lives.

What You’ll Be Doing / How You’ll Be Involved

The Detached Youth Worker role within the Detached Youth Team is a dynamic role which forms part of the Reducing Youth Violence and Exploitation Service, part of the Integrated Youth Support Service. The Detached Team is a mobile street-based team of youth workers that engages with young people in a community setting i.e. local estates, parks and community spaces. Our aim is to reach young people who do not access mainstream youth provisions and we specialise in working with young people who are marginalised and hard to reach. This role requires flexibility in order to meet fixed deadlines and competing priorities.

This role involves working unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends. This is a physically demanding role and will involve significant periods of walking considerable distances as well as working outdoors during varied weather conditions. The operations of the team range across a number of functions beyond street-based delivery. The team also delivers workshops in schools to both primary and secondary pupils.

The public engagement element this role involves regularly coming into contact with people, some of whom may at times be challenging from time to time

The post holder will be required to take responsibility for the compliance with Health and Safety legislation in accordance with the Council and departmental safety arrangements, policies, and codes.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS. Please note Camden also offers the DBS update service.
