Job summaryArmy Training Centre Pirbright (ATC(P)), a dynamic and fast-paced military training environment. You will play a key role in supporting the operational effectiveness of the unit by ensuring the efficient management and distribution of equipment and supplies.
Responsible for delivering high quality, customer focused logistics support to both Permanent Staff and Recruits, as well as lodger units. This role is vital to maintaining the readiness and functionality of the training centre.
Responsible for the issuing and receipt of weapons and associate parts in accordance with current regulations and standing orders, whilst ensuring the security of all weapons and associated parts within the central armoury.
Job descriptionMain Role Responsibilities:- Issuing and Receiving - Manage the issuing and receipt of weapons and associated parts in strict accordance with current regulations and standing orders.
- Security - Ensure the security of all weapons and associated parts within the central armoury, adhering to current regulations and local standing orders.
- Logistics - Oversee the delivery and collection of weapons to and from the armourer's shop.
- Fault Logging and Repairs - Log weapon faults and initiate the repair procedure promptly.
- Inventory Checks - Assist with registered numbers checks on weapons to maintain accurate records.
- Health and Safety - Maintain the workplace and environment in compliance with current Health and Safety Regulations for both colleagues and visitors.
- Storage - Ensure the correct storage of all weapons and associated parts.
- Training Support - Provide overtime support for training outputs, subject to authorisation.
- On-Call Duties - Be available on call to ensure security compliance, subject to authorisation.
- Rota-Based Scheduling - This position operates on a structured rota system to ensure consistent support across operational hours. Post holders are required to fulfil their contracted hours through a flexible shift pattern, which may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays, depending on operational needs as directed by the Chain of Command.
- Training Assurance - Ensure all training requiring armoury support is conducted without failure.
- JAMES Expertise - Act as the subject matter expert for the Joint Asset Management and Engineering Solutions (JAMES) system, ensuring equipment care is managed correctly in line with policy and compliance.
- Task Flexibility - Carry out duties commensurate with the appointment and MOD CS grade required by Line Manager or Chain of Command.
Person specificationEssential Skills Required:- Attention to Detail Ability to accurately issue, receive and account for weapons, equipment and associated parts whilst maintaining precise records and compliance with regulations.
- Security and Compliance Awareness Understanding the importance of following security procedures, standing orders and MOD policies to safeguard weapons, equipment and sensitive assets.
- Customer Service and Communication Ability to provide professional and responsive support to Permanent Staff, Recruits and lodger units, ensuring operational requirements are met effectively.
- Teamwork and Flexibility Capable of working collaboratively within a military training environment, adapting to changing priorities, shift patterns and operational demands.
- IT and Administrative Skills Competence in using inventory management systems such as JAMES, logging faults, maintaining records and supporting stock control and asset management activities.
LicencesUK driving licence with a minimum of Cat B entitlement.
