This role would suit an experienced Data Engineer with strong SQL and Python skills who enjoys building scalable data solutions, working with modern cloud technologies, and collaborating with a wide range of business and technical stakeholders.
A bit about the job: Join Aviva's UK General Insurance Commercial Data Engineering team and help build the data products that support underwriting, pricing, claims, analytics and data science.
Working on our strategic cloud data platform, you'll design, build and optimise data pipelines and data products that deliver trusted, reliable data across the business.
You'll work with technologies including Snowflake, DBT and AWS while collaborating with engineers, analysts, architects and business stakeholders to solve complex challenges.
From developing new data products to improving automation, performance and data quality, you'll play an important role in helping teams make better decisions and unlock new opportunities through data
Skills and experience we're looking for: - Strong SQL and Python skills with experience building and optimising data pipelines, developing reusable code, and applying engineering best practices including Git, peer review, automated testing and CI/CD.
- Modern cloud data platform experienceideally including DBT , Snowflake, Airflow and AWS with an understanding of delivering scalable, secure and reliable data solutions.
- Knowledge of data modelling and Data Product principles with experience creating trusted, reusable data products using dimensional modelling or Data Vault techniques whilst maintaining data quality and governance standards.
- A curious and innovative mindset with a willingness to learn and adopt new ways of working, including AI coding assistant tools such as GitHub Copilot, Snowflake CoCo to improve productivity & and engineering quality.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skillswith the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Starting salary £30K - £40 K ( depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity - 8% of annual salary, (actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva's.)
