Senior Audit & Risk Manager - Pensions

National Salary Circa £70,000

London salary Circa £80,000

Aviva's Governance Team provide supporting services to the Aviva Master Trust (AMT) Trustee, including Board and Sub-Committees. The team have responsibility for compliance with pensions legislation, The Pensions Regulator requirements and Codes of Practice. This role as a Senior Audit & Risk Manager is to help the Board to protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the Aviva Master Trust by providing insight and supporting (primarily) the Audit and Risk Committee, adding value, driving key activities and ultimately improving outcomes for AMT's members.

This is a great job for someone who has an understanding of the key risks and controls critical to a Master Trust, demonstrates high-level of attention to detail and accuracy and has good relationship skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders and motivate change!

A bit about the job:

You will support the Head of the Master Trust, ensuring the provision of quality MI and governance support to enable the Boards within the Aviva Master Trust, in particular the Audit & Risk Committee to achieve strategic goals. You will lead on some exciting projects such as the implementation of a new risk framework and dashboard and provide support and advice on a range of topics from supporting assurance projects undertaken by outsourced partners as well as The Pensions Regulator activity. We also need a professional who has exceptional senior stakeholder management skills, as you will act as a trusted adviser (to the Trustee).

Additionally, you will be accountable for:
  • Managing the AMT Risk Management Framework and supporting documentation including the AMT risk register and KRI dashboard, working with first- and second-line teams within Aviva
  • Leading the annual accounting and 05/20 audit process for the AMT. Responsibility for delivery within agreed timeframes and mitigation of issues arising mid process and resolution of any findings
  • Supporting the strategic direction of the ARC in terms of scope, projects and prioritisation, working with the ARC Chair
  • Supporting the evaluation of significance of incidents affecting the scheme and root cause/remediation steps

Skills and experience we're looking for:
  • Understanding of the Pensions Industry
  • Organisation skills/experience in leading complex projects/reviews, managing small teams
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others including Trustees
  • Technical skills/experience of working in a relevant financial services function, audit/consultancy firm or UK regulator
  • Analytical skills/experience of identifying and appraising risks and controls, whether in a first, second- or third-line role

  • National salary circa £70,000, London salary circa £80,000, depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications
