We have a really exciting opportunity for a Pet Underwriting Lead to join a new venture with Aviva on a 6-Month Fixed Term contract. This is a great job for someone with extensive experience of Underwriting Pet Insurance who is looking for a challenge.

A bit about the job:

Reporting to the Pet Insurance Lead, the Underwriting Lead will develop market-leading Pet Underwriting capability, governance frameworks and underwriting footprint optimisation to support delivery of the Personal Lines plans and strategy. Comfortable 'starting from scratch' in Pet, you will be creating rather than modifying the underwriting function. You will be accountable for creating, owning and embedding pet underwriting philosophy, standards, risk appetite, and technical wordings, ensuring these are appropriate to meet our strategy.

A focus on customer and conduct will be a key aspect of delivering this role. You will ensure that fair treatment of customers is embedded into the culture and activities of the Pet team, and all decision-making processes will consider customer interests and ensure that they result in fair customer outcomes. Creating a strong and effective risk and control environment will also be critical.

You must also ensure new products are designed to meet performance targets and will drive innovative and market-leading development of capability. You will work closely with the Pet team, other parts of Personal Lines Underwriting, and other teams within the Personal Lines business, including Customer Operations, Claims, Risk and Analytics.

Skills and experience we're looking for:

• Significant experience of Pet Underwriting
• The desire and ability to set a Pet Underwriting function up from scratch
• Willingness to share knowledge and expertise with the wider Pet team
• Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
• Broader knowledge of pet insurance e.g., pet claims/claims supply chain management and/or pet policy/claims administration systems would be beneficial
