Are you an Operations Lead/Business Manager in management consulting, or in another high growth/fast paced business, looking for an entrepreneurial opportunity?

We are looking for a Consulting Operations Manager to join our new consulting practice within our NHS SBS business, which is a unique partnership between Sopra Steria and the Department of Health. We provide crucial corporate back-office services to NHS organisations.

We are market leaders in corporate service delivery with around 40% of the NHS using one or more of our products. This is a hybrid variable role, you can predominantly work from home, but there will be a requirement to work in one of our offices that suits you either in Leeds, Bristol, Salford, or Southampton.

What you'll be doing:
  • You'll collaborate closely with the Director of Consulting to drive business growth by crafting, and. more importantly, executing comprehensive growth strategies.
  • You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of our consulting services, staying ahead of industry trends and take ownership of running and improving all formal operating systems.
  • Establish, maintain, and develop effective systems, operational processes, and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality consulting services. This includes but not limited to: Knowledge Management, Business Continuity, Resource Management (working with the NHS SBS Resourcing Business Partner), Risk Management, CVs and Skills Matrix.
  • Work with the DI Director to develop proportion Governance processes and embed governance processes in the Consulting Business.
  • Monitor and analyse key operational metrics such as project delivery timelines, governance, quality, risk, resource utilization, and client satisfaction levels, and implement improvements as necessary.
  • Develop Consulting Business Review packs.
  • Plan and oversee secretariat of SLT meetings.
  • Creation of Board and Exec reports, alongside business cases for new investments.
  • Where appropriate, develop well-structured business cases, effectively communicating proposals to senior stakeholders, addressing identified risks comprehensively.

Finance;
  • Support the Consulting Director to oversee the financial performance of the consulting business unit.
  • Working with Finance Business Partner and Budget Holders to monitor financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying variances, and identifying and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Working with the Finance Business Partner help ensure all finance processes are embedded in the business and support financial analysis and insights to support decision-making, investment prioritization, and resource allocation.

People and Comms;
  • Work with HR Business Partner to develop and lead the delivery of a consulting people strategy and plan including recruitment and L&D plans.
  • Develop and lead delivery of a GPTW action plan, Ensure the right people and workforce reports and data are in place and monitor data to identify issues and make recommendations to address any issues.
  • Ensure that all HR processes work effectively and are embedded in the business.
  • Develop a Consulting Induction plan, information pack and onboarding approach.
  • Work with the Comms Business Partner to design, plan and oversee execution of team engagement activities including weekly comms, monthly all hands, face to face meetings and other ad-hoc comms.

Growth and Commercial Success;
  • Develop and document standards to drive standardised high quality, value proposition, methods and tools and oversee the ongoing development of these standards.
  • Collaborate with sales and business development teams to identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive pressures, and propose on adjustments to strategies accordingly.
  • Work closely with the Director of Consulting to define and refine the overall consulting strategy, including long-term goals, objectives, and initiatives.
  • Work with the Commercial Business Partner to ensure that all commercial processes work effectively and embedded in the business.

  • Experience in a similar role in a consulting business and/or supporting strategy and operations in a high growth business.
  • Ability to understand complex problems and break them down to find structured and logical solutions.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas writing and via presentation.
  • Extensive presentation experience
  • Creative thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to interact with and influence senior leadership both internal and external.
  • Must be flexible and take direction well.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with ability to take ownership of interactions and projects.
  • Ability to respond to constructive feedback positively and adapt quickly.
  • Clear understanding of professional responsibility and accountability.

Salary: Up to £70,000
Benefits: £5,400 car allowance, 25 days annual leave with the option to buy additional days, private medical (couple), life assurance, pension, and generous flexible benefits fund.
