Disability Network at Sopra Steria

At Sopra Steria, we actively use innovative recruitment, job adaptation, training, and awareness-raising initiatives to make sure we attract and retain great people. Our inclusive network provides support, advice, and a voice for employees with disabilities.

Here are some of the things we do at Sopra Steria to support this from the first stages of recruitment through to daily working life:

• In August 2022 we achieved Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) status on the government ‘Disability Confident’ scheme.  This is a voluntary scheme that supports employers to think differently about disability and helps us improve how we attract, recruit and retain people with disabilities and health conditions.
• As a proud Disability Confident employer, we’re committed to offering an interview to all candidates with disabilities that meet the minimum criteria for the role they are applying for.
• We’re a member of the Business Disability Forum, a not-for-profit membership organisation that supports businesses of all shapes and sizes to improve their recruitment and retention of disabled employees, as well as better serving customers with disabilities. The Business Disability Forum helps us to improve and tailor the support we offer colleagues with a disability or long-term health condition.
• We have an employee-led Disability Network, established to offer a collective voice and mutual support for people with disabilities and to inform and support the Company in being truly disability inclusive. We work proactively with the Disability Network to promote positive attitudes towards people with disabilities and raise awareness on issues of disability inclusion.
• We have an Exec Sponsor for Disability and Accessibility and a dedicated Digital Accessibility Specialist who focuses on improving digital accessibility and content design to maximise accessibility and inclusion for everyone.
• We provide disability awareness training to all our People Managers to help grow our understanding of how to fully support colleagues with disabilities and health conditions.
• We have trained a network of over 60 Mental Health First Aiders across the business to support colleagues and raise awareness of mental health issues in the workplace.
