Assistant Network Officer -(Traffic& Highways) Make a Meaningful Impact: Join Us as an Assistant Traffic Network Officer

We currently expanding our team and are looking for an Assistant Traffic Network Officer to join our Network Management team.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Assistant Traffic Network Officer, you'll be part of a highly collaborative and delivery-focused team responsible for helping to keep Hertfordshire moving.

Working closely with Network Officers and Network Managers, you'll support the coordination, programming, authorisation and monitoring of activities taking place across the highway network, ensuring disruption is minimised and safety remains a priority.

Typical duties will include:
* Supporting the coordination of roadworks, street works, events and diversion routes across the highway network.
* Assisting with the validation and processing of permit applications in line with relevant legislation and codes of practice.
* Applying and verifying permit conditions to help ensure effective control of highway activities.
* Processing licence applications, including skips, scaffolding, hoardings and mobile cranes.
* Responding to enquiries from stakeholders, customers and elected members.
* Supporting continuous improvements to network management procedures, policies and best practice.
* Helping to ensure road users can travel safely and efficiently throughout Hertfordshire We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and enjoys working with a wide range of stakeholders to solve problems and deliver excellent customer service.

You'll ideally have:
* Some experience within highways, transportation, street works, network management or a similar operational environment.
* Knowledge of permit schemes and street works processes.
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* The ability to prioritise competing demands and work effectively within a busy team environment.
* A commitment to delivering high-quality customer service.
* A full UK driving licence

*The role is hybrid with 2 days/week office attendance requirement in Stevenage. The working week is based on 40h/week.
