Women in Digital | Profile Questionnaire
Name: Laura Gomez
Role: BIM Coordinator
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Tell us about your current role?
BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a smart way of designing and delivering buildings using shared 3D models.
In my role as BIM Coordinator, I make sure all parts of a complex Life Science project fit together properly. I manage the 3D models, keep information organised, and help different teams work from the same accurate data. This allows everyone to collaborate clearly and speak the same digital language, reducing mistakes and saving time
What inspired you to pursue a digital career?
I have always been interested in software, while I was studying Civil Engineering I tried to solve many exercises using software available.
But, my interest in BIM specifically, started when I worked on a hyperscale data center project that was implementing BIM. Seeing how the digital workflows could prevent issues before they happened on-site it was truly fascinating and game-changer for me, so I wanted to be part of that.
What digital wisdom would you pass on to others?
BIM is not just about software, is about people working smarter together.
If you could change one thing about the digital landscape to make it better for women, what would it be?
I would love to see more women in engineering and digital leadership roles to inspire the younger generation, as I truly believe representation matters.
What is a favorite tech tool or app you can’t live without?
Is difficult to pick one but I will say Revizto. This tool really supports people’s collaboration which is foundational on a BIM workflow that everyone is on the same page. It also supports everyday tasks to manage complex models efficiently.
What one word describes your digital journey?
Innovative.
