Location: Ipswich Road Campus
Reporting to Head of Media, Business & Digital Industries

37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

£27,994 - £29,856 per annum (£22,693 - £26,338 per annum pro-rata)

City College Norwich is seeking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to work across the College, supporting learners within Media, Business & Digital Industries.

This is a key student-facing role, ensuring continuity of learning when teaching staff are unavailable and contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise and support students during timetabled learning sessions in the absence of lecturers or other teaching staff. You will help students to stay engaged with their learning, prepare for assessments and develop their study skills, while maintaining a purposeful, safe and supportive environment.

This is a varied role requiring strong communication skills, flexibility and a genuine commitment to student success.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of teaching staff, maintaining a safe, orderly and productive learning environment
• Support students individually and in groups using learning materials provided by course teams
• Help students understand tasks, solve problems and explore different approaches to their work
• Work closely with curriculum teams to ensure cover sessions align with course delivery
• Provide targeted intervention and support for individuals and small groups
• Assist with study skills development to improve student learning and performance
• Support departments with resource preparation, displays and administrative tasks
• Assist with the invigilation of examinations where required
• Complete administrative records, reports and contribute to students' Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
• Actively support quality improvement across the College

About You

You will be motivated, resilient and student-focused, with experience of working with young people or learners in an educational setting. You will be comfortable working independently, confident using IT systems, and committed to safeguarding and equality.

Essential Criteria Include:

• Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to achieve within 12 months, with College support)
• Recent experience working with students
• Ability to motivate and communicate effectively with learners from diverse backgrounds
• Strong team-working skills and a collaborative approach
• Commitment to student success and continuous professional development
