Our Data and Digital Strategy team in our Crawley office is growing!

We have a brand new role Software Product Owner, your role is key in maximising the value of our products resulting from the development team. They provide the best items for the development team to deliver high quality product and will also act as an interface between the technical team, the marketing team the customers and end-users.

We are looking for a people person who can confidently interact with other Technical leadership and Engineers across the business working in Data and Digital: understanding the critical customer drivers; owning delivery of solutions and acting as a go-to individual that can connect internal/external stakeholders with the proposed solutions.

The role will be part of the Thales UK Data and Digital Competence Centre team to ensure that the technology strategy, human capabilities and opportunity pipeline is enabling the business strategy and growth.   The role will connect with stakeholders across engineering, Thales UK and Group Digital Competence Centres thinking.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

Engage customers/end-users and understand their needs
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of field and keep proximity to customer needs
Communicate the vision of the product and define squad's goals
Facilitate internal and external Customer demos with the team members for direct feedback
Ensure squad success: Write and reviewing User Stories, including Acceptance Criteria
Accept and rejecting User Stories using the Definition of Done and Acceptance Criteria
Prioritise product backlog items and maintaining an updated backlog for the Squad
Co-carry out market research and collect necessary data through studies, surveys, alpha/beta programs and onboard metrics to objectively analyse and identify user needs
Remain available for the Squad throughout the sprint
Interface with Group Functions and key stakeholders

This is an exciting opportunity to drive the evolution of Data offers and data capabilities within Thales and to our customers in order to increase growth in orders and increased customer satisfaction. 

We are keen to hear from anyone who has been in a Software Engineering, project and/or product management or Product Owner role that has worked with complex systems. You will have experience of managing and influencing technical decisions.

In addition we are looking for the below skills and experience. If you don’t quite match all criteria but have a passion to become a Product Owner please do still apply.
 

Familiar within an Agile team and know Agile frameworks, Scrum, Kanban, Lean (mastery of Jira, Rally or Redmine type tool)
Strong business acumen and want to stay abreast of the latest innovations
Great understanding of customer needs and bringing quick results to users
You are autonomous and know how to get your ideas adopted to improve your team's practices
Understand how to develop a product vision based on your understanding of your field and customer needs
Knowledge of software development
You are recognised as a team-player and enjoy collaborative work
Open-minded and love to receive feedback from all stakeholders

Able to simplify and break down problems in a context where the functional area is complex
