Every day we learn something new; we constantly absorb information, determine what’s important and decide how to act.  Learning is a naturally occurring process, and not just ‘a training course’ or ‘delivering content’. It is embedded in our daily flow of work and helps us to create, acquire and transfer knowledge so that we can learn from our mistakes, solve problems and continually improve the ways we work. We encourage our teams to be inquisitive, learn new things and share what they know with others.

We create environments for people to learn in a way that suits them best. Our Learning Management System – uLearn provides access to thousands of top quality digital learning activities, both developed in house and through our partnership with Udemy.

• It provides online training courses but Thales employees can also book onto face to face seminars and workshops via ulearn too!

The biggest shift in learning at Thales is that you are in charge of your learning programme, and uLearn makes that possible.

We made the following improvements so that our employee’s experience is even better:

• A dedicated uLearn team releases new features every three weeks.
• Learning Solutions Managers add new courses on a regular basis.
• We have invested in more licenses for online courses following the high demand.
• Our data team tracks usage so that we make data-driven decisions about time and resource investments.

We strongly believe in knowledge sharing and in the power of learning from peers. Often an on the job setting, learning one to one from a trusted colleague, line manager or coach is the most effective way of developing new skills and knowledge. In an organisation of our size however it is sometimes difficult to replicate the power of learning from others to a larger audience. We have therefore developed Let’s Learn, a powerful way to allow “Thales to teach Thales” utilising experts within the business to share key knowledge across the organisation in both an online and face to face format. Let’s Learn has delivered thousands of hours of valuable learning on a host of subject matter over the last 5 years.

We have recently refreshed our Leadership Model and made it relevant to everyone who works with us, whether they are in a Leadership role or not. Everything we do and learn should be centred on these essential principles.

Solaris Women’s Executive Leadership Development

At Thales, we understand that representation is critical, if new talent cannot see what they would like to be this is a blocker and uninspiring to them, the value of role modelling is significant. Solaris creates an environment in which aspiring and successful black female leaders can learn together and from each other.

The programme provides mentoring, sponsorship and coaching for the talent within a group that is under-represented in organisations. Solaris provides the platform to establish a strong international network of black female leaders in and outside of Thales and creates a talent pool to contribute to the achievement of inclusion and diversity goals of organisations across the world. This year we have extended this leadership development to the new ‘Rising stars’ development programme paying particular emphasis on instilling the fundamental basics of Leadership, Career and Life Development for those more junior in their leadership journey. This will provide a platform from which our developing talent can accelerate their growth and fully realise their potential.
