We're looking for a talented Senior Research Data Scientist who expects more from their career. It's a chance to extend and improve dunnhumby's Price & Promotions scientific portfolio. It's an opportunity to work with a market-leading business to explore new opportunities for us and influence global retailers.

Joining our Data Science team, you'll

• Work with world class and passionate people to apply machine learning, statistical, and econometrics methods to business problems.

• Contribute to the research and implementation of new approaches to by developing mathematical models, creative methods to address new and complex problems.

• Perform data analysis and model validation.

• Present analysis to both internal teams and clients.

• Extend and develop programming skills, in languages such as Python and Spark, to develop efficient science code for science modules.

• Follow Quality Assurance processes, ways of working and meet coding standards.

• Build strong relationships within the team and with internal stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.

What we expect from you

• Keen interest in analysing customer data and researching novel approaches to build statistical models.

• Good working knowledge of statistical techniques, such as Maximum Likelihood Theory.

• Passion about designing generative models from first principles whenever possible.

• Working knowledge of using technologies to process big data.

• A collaborative approach working across multiple teams like

o Applied Data Scientists - to help our client partners in adopting new research work.

o Data Science Engineers - to build robust and highly scalable solutions.

• Interest in utilising innovative open-source packages (e.g. time series forecasting) to solve real world problems.

If the above points resonate with you, it is also likely that you will have:

• Master's degree / PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Physics, Engineering or related field.

• Ability to prototype solutions using e.g. Python or R to facilitate testing of algorithms on large data sets.

• Good understanding of machine learning techniques, with applications to classification, regression, and clustering.

• Good understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.
