Job description

As a Senior Product Manager, you will lead a team or portfolio of teams and in this role you will:
  • Understand and translate the mission You will need to understand andcommunicate with teams and stakeholders how the problem you aresolving contributes to achieving our mission and support the productmangers on the teams to articulate the value they are delivering.
  • Product Management Focus on delivering value continuously - work withthe product teams to agree approach and roadmaps, connect our work toagreed outcomes and support the development of delivery plans andcommunicating progress to the wider business as appropriate.
  • User focussed - Act as the voice of all users (citizen and business) duringdiscussions with teams and stakeholders.
  • Data driven Engage with data professionals to inform the development ofthe service based on evidence and ensure we are designing the service tocapture the data we need to measure value on an ongoing basis.
  • Agile - Ability to work in a fast paced, evolving environment and utilises an iterative method and flexible approach to enable rapid pragmatic delivery.
  • Line management of product people or a variety of specialist digital colleagues.

You will be part of a healthy Product Community of Practice whereby you will share what you are doing and also gain valuable input from your fellow PMs.

The role may not be easy at times, but youll be well supported, and youll get a minimum of 5 days learning and development annually.

Person specification

To get an interview youll need to have a proven record of working in product management within a digital environment.

Apply if you have:
  • Experience of setting the direction of the product, rallying the team, owning the vision and roadmap of the product and be that trusted voice.
  • Have worked with users to identify user needs and represent the user in all decision making.
  • Experience of using different approaches to prioritise in order to make a decision.
  • Experience of applying influence and challenging the status quo so you can meet your vision.
  • Experience of working on a complex and/or high-risk project or programme.
  • Experience of mentoring and coaching product people and teams to deliver highly quality products and services.

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from 69,869 to 77,740.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Location

Applicants should apply for suitable posts where they can travel to and from their home office location daily within a reasonable time.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. Relocation costs will not be reimbursed

Stage 1: Application

Your application will consist of three parts:

1. A Personal Details application form.

2. Your employment history detailing your responsibilities, skills, accomplishments, plus your qualifications and relevant training. Please copy this information into the box field provided.

The sift panel will use the information in your employment history and personal statement to assess your experience, skills and knowledge against the essential criteria above.

You will receive one combined score for both your Employment History/CV and Personal Statement, which will be provided in your Personal Statement score.

Stage 2: Interview

If youre successful at sift stage you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. There, you will be assessed against the Essential Criteria listed in the Person Specification.

Interviews will take place from Mid-June onwards.

To help you prepare and settle into the interview you will be sent the interview questions in advance of the interview, 7 days prior to your interview. These questions should be treated as confidential and should not be shared. The interview panel may ask you other questions which will not be shared in advance, including follow-up questions, and those about your experience.

A reserve list may be held for a period of 6 months from which further appointments can be made.
