Outpatient Lead Physiotherapist

Nuffield Health Oxford Hospital | Physiotherapy | Permanent Contract | Full Time

Competitive salary depending on experience

37.5 hours a week

As an Outpatient Lead Physiotherapist at our Oxford Hospital, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality physiotherapy care to patients on their journey through treatment in outpatients. You will also ensure the team deliver evidence-based, quality physiotherapy care, drive innovation and provide support on complex queries. You will support the Physiotherapy Department Manager with the clinical and operational management of the Outpatient Team.

As our Outpatient Lead Physiotherapist, you will (but not limited to):

  • Report to the Physiotherapy Manager on the quality of physiotherapy provision on site, including the identification of themes and trends in the data and KPIs and supporting non-compliant individuals where required.

  • Act as a subject matter expert in on-site complaints and incidents relating to physiotherapy.

  • Support the on-site Physiotherapy Manager to ensure that the physiotherapy governance framework is adhered to.

  • Provide clinical support to on-site physiotherapists where appropriate.

  • Ensures the on-site physiotherapy team is managing their face-to-face caseload effectively, ensuring cases are discharged appropriately on systems.

  • Identifies learning needs locally in the department from peer reviews and notes audits to target local learning appropriately by organising local CPD programmes and engaging with the team to deliver these as per Nuffield Health's CPD guidelines.

  • Appropriately identifies patients who require onward referral to advanced-level physiotherapists, consultants, or other healthcare consultants, including the use of internal escalation pathways for patients presenting with serious pathology.

  • Undertakes treatment underpinned by extensive clinical knowledge and skills to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.

  • Maintains relevant clinical skills and provides on-going evidence of personal CPD and Professional registration.

To succeed as our Outpatient Lead Physiotherapist, you will have:

  • A BSc or equivalent in chosen field with extensive post graduate experience of Outpatient Orthopaedic Physiotherapy.

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

  • Excellent clinical reasoning skills and be able to prioritise and manage a varied workload in an effective and timely manner.

  • Commitment towards the use of evidence-based practice and the ability to demonstrate excellent clinical skills in the chosen field.

  • The ability to work collaboratively as a team player, share best practice and inspire clinical development.

  • Evidence of leadership or management roles previously an advantage, with ongoing CPD reflecting on a wide range of physiotherapy experience with a focus on an orthopaedic caseload and leadership/management.

  • Experience of developing services and delivering quality improvement initiatives.

  • Competent computer skills.
