Meet Shubhangi, Quality Assurance Manager at Nuffield Health

We asked Shubhangi Nihalgar, Quality Assurance Manager about what inspired her to pursue a career in technology.

 

 

How did you decide to pursue a career in technology? Was it your childhood ambition or a spontaneous decision to work in the field?

My sister encouraged me to pursue a career in technology. It was not my childhood ambition, based on the book or TV series my childhood dream kept changing. When I read about Egypt I wanted to become an archaeologist.  When I saw a documentary about marine life I wanted to become a marine biologist, but later I realised that I was afraid of the deep sea.

 

What are your biggest achievements / moments you’re most proud of in the workplace?

I am proud of my Nuffield Health journey so far. My first project, NH.com migration to Azure Cloud allowed me to learn many applications, expansion of NEPR test team from 3 to 14+ members, supporting testing of Trakcare for St Bartholomew's hospital.

 

What advice can you give to women considering a career in tech?

Sky is the limit. Technology is constantly evolving, so whether you are starting a new career, resuming after a long maternity leave or switching careers, there’s something for everyone. Believe in yourself and never stop learning.

 

Do you think that women have the same opportunities as men in the tech world? How can we change that?

Not always, there were obstacles in my career, but I concentrated on improving my skills and knowledge. Some of the ways to change that is by giving everyone an equal opportunity to prove themselves, equal pay for equal work regardless of gender. Supporting people to restart their careers after parental leave with a ‘Back to Work’ recruitment campaign.
