Testimonial

Meet Rebecca Mushambi, our Radiology Manager at Leicester Hospital.

Rebecca

Tell us about the team you work in?

Our radiology team is a small team of 16, 10 radiographers, 2 Healthcare assistants and 4 bookings administrators.

Why did you choose to work at Nuffield Health?

In the beginning, it was just moving to the private sector and somewhere which suits my needs in terms of flexibility. In time I have come to love the company for our purpose and strategy. I love the values and our personalised approach to healthcare. Our flagship program to give back and support the community is wonderful and something I relate to and want to be involved in.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Nuffield Health?

The family feel and a sense of belonging and feeling my contribution makes a difference.

What is your career highlight/s?

Building a strong and high-performing team, I love my team, they are the most hardworking and funniest team I know. Taking my level 5 apprenticeship whilst running the department and balancing it with home life and kids has made me feel proud of myself.

Tell us about your career progression at Nuffield Health.

I started in Nuffield as a Senior Radiographer back in 2010 and progressed to the Radiology manager role within 2 years and I have held this post for 11 years now. I am nearly completing a level 5 apprenticeship with the hope of progressing to a senior management role

How do you use your employee benefits?

I am a member of the gym although I don’t attend as much as I should. I also have a partner on a discounted membership fee. I have my husband and children on the healthcare scheme and this has been a tremendous help, especially with the kids and the bonus is the scheme is so subsidised you don’t feel like you are paying anything at all.

What does the Equity Forum at Nuffield Health mean to you?

This is a platform which really supports inclusivity and people can come together to be open and help in finding ways to make Nuffield Health an inclusive and diverse place to work in

About Nuffield Health:

Driven by our purpose to build a healthier nation, our experts have been working together for more than 60 years to make the nation fitter, healthier, happier and stronger.

We achieve this through being the UK largest Healthcare Charity with our industry-leading network of 31 hospitals, 112 fitness and wellbeing centres, medical centres and workplace wellbeing facilities. We believe that the best healthcare should help prevent illness by looking after mind and body. Our holistic wellbeing offering spans physical and mental health — from personal training, health assessments, GP services, and physiotherapy to providing mental health support or hospital treatments for serious conditions. We also use our expertise to support the NHS and help people to prevent illness and injury, working in collaboration with all parts of the health service.

What makes us truly different is our commitment to our unique flagship programmes, where we respond to developing national unmet health and wellbeing needs in local communities and widen access to our services, experts and resources to give more people the tools to live a healthy life. Our flagships help young people understand and improve their own health, help people living with joint pain, and, most recently, help rehabilitate people experiencing the long-term effects from COVID-19. Through all our education, research and flagships we are building the evidence base for a holistic approach to healthcare that helps prevent physical and mental illness in the future.

As a trading charity, we do not fundraise and we invest all our income back into our purpose to build a healthier nation. With our purpose at the heart of everything we do, we always focus on the wider impact of our actions on our people, on those who benefit from our flagship programmes, on local communities and on the environment.
