As the Lead Domain Architect for Networks in DWP Digital, you will lead, manage and deliver aspects of this domains architecture activities to meet customer needs.

The successful candidate for this role will:
  • Identify, capture, share and refine reference patterns and architectures, and technology choices, to ensure consistent and coherent architecture design, contributing to the Enterprise Architecture.
  • Govern solution designs, approving architecture decisions and technology choices.
  • Support the delivery of a Networks technology roadmap.
  • Research, understand and communicate network domain-related IT industry trends - emergence of new technology challenges and capabilities.
  • Provide expert advice to Solution Architects within Delivery project teams on the network design elements of their solutions.
  • Consult a wide range of stakeholders, including Solution Architects, to create solution options and recommendations during project discovery and inception phases.
  • Work closely with projects to ensure their design artefacts are at the appropriate standard for the Design Authority and ensure Network Design patterns are correctly referenced.

Person specification

When writing your CV, you must demonstrate experience of:
  • Leading and governing network architecture design of business-critical IT projects/services in a large, complex UK central government or private sector organisation.
  • Successfully presenting network solutions at governance forums.
  • Successfully influencing & driving agreement across senior business and technical stakeholders
  • Networks strategies, blueprints, reference architectures and design patterns.
  • Network service infrastructure, including cloud native networking (AWS, Azure, GCP and OCI), routing, switching, managed WAN and LAN design, Ethernet, wireless solutions.
  • Network Protocols, Standards and Hardware configuration.

    Location

    Hybrid Working

    This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

    Salary Information

    Pay for this role is from 69,869 to 77,740.

    The maximum salary for the grade is 77,740, however a Digital Allowance of up to 12,255 per annum is available for exceptional candidates, based on our assessment of your skills and experience.

    Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

    Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

    Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

    Stage 2: Interview

    If youre successful at sift stage you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. There, you will be assessed against the Behaviours and Technical Skills listed above.

    You will be asked to do a 5 minute presentation on a Domain Architecture design you have led.

    Interviews will take place from Mid/Late-June onwards.
