Farm and Estate Technician

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

£27,994 - £29,856 per annum

We are seeking to recruit an ambitious, motivated and conscientious technician to join the College's Farm and Estate team. This is a great opportunity for an individual to join a progressive team applying modern practices and techniques across the Estates machinery and livestock operations and become the lead for the demonstration of our techniques and standards to students, staff and the public.

The successful individual will have the opportunity to significantly shape their role and influence the other enterprises that they are involved with, with the support of the Head of Easton Estate.

About the Role:

  • You will provide practical learning opportunities for students, including the demonstration of both machinery operation and livestock husbandry skills to small groups.
  • Work with other Estate technicians in the operation of the Colleges 180ha estate including Crop production, Livestock and Equine enterprises.
  • Operate and maintain tractors, mowers and other machinery safely and effectively.
  • Carry out a wide range of seasonal farm and estate tasks to provide both demonstration to students and as part of the routine Estate management.

We are looking for the following key qualities:

  • A passion for practical outdoor work and pride in achieving high standards.
  • A solid, practical knowledge of Livestock husbandry (Beef and Sheep) and operational experience of modern farm machinery and its operation. (Essential)
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for the land-based sector.
  • The ability to work well in a team but also independently using your own initiative.
  • A full UK driving licence. (Essential)
  • High expectations for safety, cleanliness and presentation.
