We are currently recruiting an Assistant Service Delivery Manager for the Submarine Sonar Support team. This role will provide support for the management, control and delivery of all allocated Work Packages/Tasks/Bids for In Service Support under the MSET programme. This role will support the delivery of the Programme whilst rising to the challenge for achieving efficiencies. The incumbent shall support the Service Delivery Managers in guaranteeing that KPI commitments are met, working closely with the Delivery Teams across Sub Sonar Pillar to ensure that successful contract performance is achieved and maintained.

Primary Purpose of the Role:

The successful candidate will engage with parties where necessary in order to influence the support and/or service solution; highlight positive and negative feedback to the SDMs, and use this information for continuous improvement purposes including supporting setting up action plans designed to gradually improve the quality of the service provided to the Customer and/or to reduce the associated cost. 

There will be opportunity to progress in this role throughout the future duration of the support contract. The role shall be based at Cheadle with hybrid flexible working and occasional travel. Candidates must have the necessary security clearance due to data classification of UK Secret.

Key duties:

  • Support the Service Delivery Managers in preparing internal and external key programme reporting activities
  • Assist with the creation, management and delivery of out of scope contracts (TAFs, CCPs)
  • Ensure effective use of the Thales Reporting Portal using data to support Pillar activities
  • For nominated projects, support the planning, set up, organisation, documentation, and project execution in accordance with approved Thales governance processes, procedures, methods and tools.
  • Provide support to wider functions, assisting with the delivery of ‘Enhancement’ activities and obsolescence reporting
  • Support the management of Stock and Obsolescence requirements through the Provisioning process
  • Provide input to aid the improvement of Pillar ‘Ways of Working’
  • Ensure that appropriate Change Management activities are highlighted and actioned in conjunction with the Service Delivery Teams in accordance with Thales processes and procedures
  • Ensure good communication around issues and opportunities, interfacing with internal organisations across all sites on support issues, ensuring operations teams are aware of changes and are prepared
  • Support the SDMs in launching, monitoring and progression of all procurement, manufacturing and repair activities for each contract within designated remit; ensuring all deliverables are met to the required timescale, cost and quality.
  • Support the Pillar Lead as required, assisting in the preparation of reports and financial analysis where necessary
  • Support the preparation and pricing of support proposals either as part of a design and manufacture team or as stand-alone support/service propositions
  • Support the SDMs with maintaining Work Breakdown Structures
  • Assist with coordination of quotations through the appropriate business tool, ensuring Primavera programmes are prepared, maintained and updated where necessary
  • Identify and mitigate risk to prevent issues arising which could adversely affect programme performance
  • Support the preparation and presentation of the necessary reports as detailed in the contract
  • Use management plans to identify program activities and milestones, metrics and resource requirements
  • Contribute to the achievement and growth of sales, cash and margin

Skills and experience:

  • Sound Finance and Commercial Acumen
  • Knowledge of MoD processes and procedures
  • Experience of Royal Navy Sensor Systems and Equipment
  • Knowledge of the Integrated Logistic Support function
