We are pleased to share details of a £1.35 million investment project at Easton College to transform our farm facilities and introduce new padel courts as part of an ongoing commitment to provide outstanding learning environments and experiences for our students and the wider community.

A modern sports pavilion stands beneath a dramatic dusk sky streaked with vibrant orange, pink, and deep indigo clouds. The centrepiece is an asymmetrical, dark-clad pavilion featuring a pitched roof supported by black structural pillars. Beneath its shelter, brightly lit padel courts with blue playing surfaces are enclosed in glass, with players in mid-game. Running parallel to the courts is an open-sided, covered walkway with warm downlighting embedded in the ceiling, where people are socialising and seated at café-style tables. To the left, an outdoor tennis court is enclosed by chain-link fencing, where a figure can be seen playing under the glow of tall floodlights. A gravelled border planted with low shrubbery and small trees in illuminated planters separates the court from a broad, neatly manicured lawn in the foreground. To the far right, the curved, translucent form of a large air dome is softly illuminated against the nightfall, with an industrial pylon and treeline silhouetted along the distant horizon.

The investment forms part of the college's Future Ready transformation programme and was approved by Governors this week.

A total of £850,000 will be invested over the next two years to modernise Model Farm, representing the largest investment in the college's agricultural facilities for over two decades. The project will deliver a new cattle shed, manure store, straw shed and upgraded cattle handling systems, creating a modern, efficient and sustainable farming operation that will support increased livestock numbers and expand practical learning opportunities for students throughout the academic year.

The improvements will enable more hands-on training across our agriculture and land-based curriculum, ensuring students gain experience of the technologies, systems and practices used across today's farming industry.

This image shows an outdoor architectural walkway situated between modern sports or recreational facilities under a bright, partly cloudy blue sky. Central Pathway & Ground Cover: In the foreground, a wide path features a permeable grass-paver grid system with low tufts of green grass growing through a dark cellular matrix. Left Side (Sports Enclosure): A large, white curved fabric dome structure—likely covering an indoor tennis or multipurpose court—rises on the left. It is bordered by a tall dark metal chain-link security fence backed by a teal windbreak screen, with neat shrubbery and white decorative gravel edging its base. Right Side (Covered Walkway & Building): A contemporary single-storey building features an overhanging covered colonnade supported by slim, charcoal-grey steel pillars. The soffit ceiling is finished in warm wood panelling with recessed downlights, while the white exterior wall is accented with round, minimalist wall lights. Along the foot of the wall, lush green shrubs and young saplings are planted in a bed of white stones, illuminated by small ground uplighters. Background: The colonnade leads towards a dark-grey, cubic architectural entrance pavilion featuring large glass panes, opening up to glimpses of mature green trees in the distance. The overall atmosphere is sleek, tidy, and illuminated by bright natural sunlight casting soft shadows across the lawn.

Alongside this, £500,000 will be invested in the creation of Easton Rackets Centre, combining the college's existing tennis provision with two new covered padel courts for student and community use. The development will form part of Easton College's Centre of Excellence for Sport and respond to the growing popularity of padel across the UK.

The new facility will provide students with access to professional-standard facilities while creating opportunities to develop practical skills in coaching, officiating, event management and sports science activities. In addition, students will benefit from direct engagement with coaches, employers and community participants through a real operating environment.
