Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Promote and practice the highest standards of the prevention and control of Infection at all times.
  • Move and handle patients and goods in ways that promote the health of the patient, healthcare team and self and are consistent with legislation.
  • Assist with the collection of simple data for audit/research and other purposes as delegated by the Registered Nurse/Health Care Professional/Multi Disciplinary Team.

Experience

  • Experience working in a healthcare, social care organisation/setting or service industry requiring people contact.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Holds National Care Certificate or be willing to undertake and complete within 12 weeks of starting.
  • Level 2 qualification in health care OR equivalent knowledge and skill
  • Depending on the role requirements, on completion of the Care Certificate demonstrating evidence of clinical knowledge, skill and competence plus further experience/competence equivalent to a level 3 qualification, the worker will move to a Senior Theatre Support Assistant role at band 3 AfC.
  • Completed Level 3 in Health & social care
  • Holds Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English or education equivalent.

  • Shows transferable skills to care for patients


Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Health Care setting


Communication and Relationship skills

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Able to work as a team.

Essential criteria
  • Able to work on own initiative, following direction/supervision by a Registered Practitioner

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.

The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.

The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.

COVID 19 Risk Assessment

Due to the current Covid pandemic we have introduced a staff risk assessment into our pre-employment process. This now forms part of the mandatory pre-employment checks that will be carried out if you receive a conditional offer.

The risk assessment is intended to ensure you are able to safely perform your duties in any of our work areas, and if you have been identified as being particularly vulnerable to coronavirus.
