Job Title: Senior Site Manager
Division: UK Construction
Project Location: Plymouth
Office Location:Bristol
Reporting To: Senior Project Manager

Construction South is part of the UK Construction business and includes the Wales and West, and the South East . Projects on average range between £5 - £50 million and are primarily based in the Public Sector with some projects in the Private Sector. Sectors include Leisure, Justice, Defence, Education, Health and Commercial offices.

Role Purpose

Manage, direct and support project delivery team in all construction activities and ensure successful and safe delivery to the satisfaction of the Client, Stakeholders and ISG.

Key Accountabilities
  • Strong management and leadership of HSQE - achieving Target Zero
  • Zero defects approach to quality
  • Take ownership of the project programme and develop strategy to meet or improve upon
  • Maximise profit margins and returns on the project through close co-operation with the project commercial team
  • Ensure project compliance with CMS
  • Management of subcontractors - in line with time, quality and budget requirements
  • Understand Client needs and deliver to set objectives
  • Develop and maintain key customer relationships including further work winning opportunities
  • Interface directly with Clients on project issues
  • Keep line manager constantly updated on key construction issues and solutions
  • Input into tender submission and attend interviews
  • Ensure the highest level of HSQE management and set the standard for the project team
  • Manage HSQE induction and reporting procedures Report to PM/CM on all project issues
  • Develop tender programme into construction programme
  • Regular programme and progress monitoring and compiling programming strategies with project team during the contract period
  • Manage the design process and design team in conjunction with the Design Manager
  • Requisition/manage materials purchased by ISG
  • Deal with supply chain performance problems in conjunction with project team
  • Provide proactive technical support to project team to overcome project problems but also enhance and develop individual's skill sets
  • Prepare and present or lead monthly internal project reviews
  • Prepare and present monthly Client reports
  • Ensure project team compliance with the CMS
  • Continuous dialogue with QS to maximise commercial performance
  • Chair end of project review meetings/complete project profile
  • Maintain relationships with Client, Stakeholders and Professional Tea
  • Liaise with local authority, building control, HSE and other outside agencies
  • Ensure project records are comprehensive and up to date
  • Understand ISG vision and values
  • Encourage and promote the message of fairness, inclusion and respect with colleagues, clients and suppliers
Skills & Experience
  • Successful and profitable delivery of projects in new build and/or refurbishment contracts
  • Experience of a similar leadership role as Site Manager
  • Experience in most forms of construction including Design and Build
  • Experience in relationship management with customers/consultants and supplier which has led to new opportunities and work wins
  • Commercial awareness, understanding and ability to make profit whilst retaining relationships and Company values
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal and people management skills are essential
  • Strong technical knowledge, including building services
  • Extensive knowledge and awareness of health, safety, and environmental procedures, practices and legislation
  • Good customer relationship skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to understand the wider picture whilst devoting attention to detail
  • Attitude: characterised by enthusiasm, commitment to personal and project success
  • Proactive, diligent, able and willing to think ahead
  • Values: the person must understand the vision and values of ISG and respond positively
  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively
  • Approach; structured, focused, thorough, high level of attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to be firm and demanding in order to maintain high standards, but also able to encourage and motivate.
Qualifications
  • 5 Day Site Management Safety Training Scheme or equivalent
  • 4 day First Aid Certificate
  • CSCS Card (Site Manager's or similar)
  • ACIOB preferred
