ISG's pledge to support National Apprenticeship Week

Category: Social Mobility

Apprenticeships

ISG is pledging £200,000 of its Apprenticeship Levy to help small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the North of England develop apprenticeships that invest in and provide new opportunities for local communities.

ISG

The ‘Apprenticeship Levy Pledge’ will support ISG in seeking to create a positive and sustainable legacy. In addition to addressing the skills shortages and upskilling opportunities within the built environment sector, the funding will target apprenticeships that unlock wider community potential and prosperity. Applications will be considered for a wide range of apprenticeships, from business administration to construction, catering and hospitality to childcare and care services, creative design to digital, engineering and manufacturing to legal, finance, and more.

ISG has an ongoing commitment to developing 'Skills for Life' through our apprenticeship programmes and was awarded ‘gold’ accredited membership last year in The 5% Club’s 2022-23 Employer Audit. The award recognises our significant contribution to the continued development of all our employees through ‘earn & learn’ schemes such as apprenticeships, graduate schemes, and placements. And we want other employers to have the same opportunity.

The launch of our new Apprenticeship Levy Pledge will help provide other employers with the same opportunity. Through ISG’s financial support, employers will be able to train a new apprentice, or upskill and reskill their employees to apprenticeship standards, aligned to their personal and professional career ambitions. Whether that be in construction or another industry, our focus is to ensure that the funding we provide meets the needs of local businesses and communities.

“We are delighted to pledge £200,000 today and are committed to investing with local businesses to build further skills in the region. ISG wants to support both construction and wider apprenticeships to address the demand for skills for the local economy. We hope that through this fund we can invest together, build a lasting legacy and generate opportunities for local businesses and people.”

Sarah McKinlay, Group Talent Director
