Job summaryJoin Ofgem on a 12-month fixed-term contract and play a key role in shaping the future of Great Britains energy market. As part of the Financial Resilience and Controls Directorate, you will support the regulatory framework that has strengthened the financial resilience of energy suppliers, helping to protect consumers while enabling a competitive, innovative and investable energy sector.
Working within the Directorates Programme Management Office (PMO), you will help drive effective governance, planning, assurance and performance management across a diverse portfolio of regulatory and strategic initiatives. This is a varied and influential role where you will provide oversight of delivery, risks, dependencies, resources and budgets, while producing high-quality reporting and insights that inform senior decision-making.
You will work closely with senior leaders, the Corporate PMO, Private Office and embedded teams to ensure programmes and projects remain aligned with organisational priorities and strategic objectives. Alongside supporting day-to-day delivery, you will contribute to the ongoing development of PMO standards, processes and best practice, helping to embed a culture of continuous improvement and high-quality delivery across the Directorate.

Job descriptionKey Responsibilities- Support effective PMO stewardship by contributing to Directorate PMO oversight for effective delivery and informed decisions making in line with organisational priorities, strategic objectives andresourcerequirements.
- Support the design,developmentand continuous improvement of the Directorate PMO, promoting high standard delivery culture, values and best practice.
- Oversee Directorate governance and assurance, overall analysis of delivery performance, headcount and budget management ensuring robust controls,processesand reporting mechanisms are in place.
- Lead on riskand dependency management across the Directorate and support planning and prioritisation activities.
- Producehigh-quality reporting,dashboardsand insights to support seniordecision-making and provide challenge and assurance to programme and project teams where needed.
- Embed PMO standards,frameworksand tooling in line with corporate requirements
- Build capability across the Directorate through expert guidance and support by encouraging development of colleagues within profession and teams.
- Interface with Senior Leaders, Corporate PMO, Business Partners and embedded PMO teams.
- Responsible for supporting the stakeholders delivering their work for the Directorate, including clear commissions and setting clear expectations, success metrics.
- Day to day, you are expected to work closely with Private office and embedded PMO who support monitoring, analysis and supervisory activities across the Directorate.
- You will be an active member of the Directorate PMO, overseeing the running of FRC governance and assurance forums which the wider team are key contributors to.
Key Outputs and Deliverables- Support the design and delivery of products that contribute to greater understanding of Directorates role and activities within Markets group, such as cross-directorates risks and dependencies management approach etc.
- Build trusted relationships with the stakeholders while fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptive change.
- Act as an active andcollaborative member of the wider FRC Directorate PMO contributing to the Directorates overalldelivery,risksand culture, as part of that overseeing the FRC governance and assurance.

Essential Criteria
- Demonstrable experience working in business management / PMO centre of excellence, or major programme governance function (Lead)
- Experience using project management methodologies across complex portfolio, programme (e.g. P3M, IPA frameworks)
- Evidence ofmaturing PMO processes or operating models governing a corporate portfolio
- Excellent analytical skills, able to think critically,validate, analyse and interpret complex info, challenge, sense check results and present clear insight
- Proven ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders effectively
- Experience managing competing priorities and deliveringhigh-qualityoutputs at pace
- Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in regulatory, public-sector or complex delivery environments
- Knowledge of the energy sector and interest in financial regulation area.
