Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for a Risk Analyst Lead to join the Property Policy team in Property Risk, joining a team responsible for developing, updating, maintaining and implementing our property policy standards across both our residential and buy-to-let lending streams. This is a wide-ranging role, which involves providing assistance at the front end of mortgage application processes, responsible for engaging with both Solicitors and internal stakeholders and providing advice to existing customers who are looking to complete certain, complex onward transactions with the Society.

The Property Policy team are a close knit, friendly group and this role provides an opportunity to join a team that keep both the society and our customers safe and secure, whilst delivering innovative, forward-thinking policy advice and decisioning on both external and internal platforms.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our London or Bournemouth office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing

This Risk Analyst Lead role is primarily focused upon producing, governing, evolving and explaining our property policy requirements and standards to both internal and external stakeholders, at times in pressured timescales. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable with decision making and happy to challenge when things don't feel right, being at ease with challenging the status quo. At Nationwide we aim to have an industry leading property policy and this means every day will be slightly different, whether that be answering complex solicitor queries on live mortgage applications or helping a customer realise the potential in their property once they are a customer with us - and always staying on the front foot of industry and government policy evolution.

About you

As a minimum requirement, you'll:
  • Have proven decision making skills both at individual and more holistic levels
  • Good knowledge of the house buying & selling process
  • Proven experience in a risk based property/housing market role
  • Have a passion for developing new ways to solve complex problems
  • Be confident in building relationships and communicating effectively to a wide range of audiences, tailoring the level of detail as necessary

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers' shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind
  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think - we're honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
  • Push for better - We don't settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
