Job summary

An exciting opportunity has come up for a Junior Clinical Fellow position in the Rheumatology Department at the Peter Maddison Rheumatology Centre at Llandudno Hospital. This role is suitable for doctors who have completed their Internal Medicine training.

This is a fixed term 12-month contract until August 2027 (may be extended to 2 years with agreement from both specialty and Medical Education Department) which is intended for those who wish to further consolidate their experience after foundation training, before deciding on their career pathway. This post also provides an opportunity to enhance your CV in preparation for applying to specialty training.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant would be expected to fulfil a role as Junior Clinical Fellow in Rheumatology.

The appointee will be supported to:

  • Conduct outpatient clinics
  • Manage inpatients and ward referrals
  • Manage the Assessment and Therapy infusion patients
  • Oversee chronic disease management pathways, ensuring high-quality longitudinal care for rheumatology patients

There is no out of hours on call commitment associated with these posts.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MB ChB or equivalent
  • Full Registration with GMC
  • MRCP Part 1
Desirable

  • MRCP Part 2
  • Post-graduate qualification in medical education
  • Specialty postgraduate qualification
Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Completion of foundation programme (F2)
  • The applicant must be familiar with and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the major principles of the GC's Good Medical Practice (2006)
  • Clinical Knowledge and skills expected of a doctor at the end of CMT training assessed on interview
  • Current ALS certification
  • 12 months experience at CT level in General Medicine (not including foundation training)
  • 12 months NHS experience (not including clinical attachments)
Desirable

  • Two years of post-foundation programme clinical practice
  • Experience in Rheumatology
Teaching skills and Personal Qualities

Essential

  • Enthusiasm for teaching
  • Enthusiasm and skills for working well as a team
  • Motivation and the ability to deal effectively with pressure and or challenges.
  • Understanding of the principles of equality and diversity.

  • Demonstrable experience in teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level
