Jacobs nuclear is recruiting for an Equipment Qualification Principal Engineer to provide professional, high quality engineering support to various operational power plants, Plant lifetime extension programmes and new build programmes to ensure the proposed safety equipment is designed and qualified in line with UK regulatory expectations
The role requires a high level of technical and organisational skills along with the ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. The main role of the Equipment Qualification Principal Engineer is to support the Programme Manager, specifically taking the lead in helping clients de-risk the delivery of safety critical mechanical, electromechanical, electronic and electrical equipment to site ready for installation and to survive for its designated service life in normal, harsh and accidental conditions.
Perform technical review and acceptance of design documentation provided by the Responsible Designer and suppliers Assist the programme manager in the completion of tasks and projects. Address unresolved technical issues and reach adequate conclusions Maintain a strong relationship with key internal and external stakeholders Support the business and clients when communicating with the Regulators on matters associated with equipment qualification Assist in coordinating support from other external organisations Provide technical bid support
Degree in a relevant Science or Engineering subject Chartered Engineer status is preferred Nuclear Industry experience is preferred Knowledge of Equipment Qualification standards (IEEE, RCC-e, RCC-m, etc) Design process knowledge related to Nuclear Industry Understanding of Quality requirements and practices, or Inspection Surveillance is a suitable skillset to assist in developing into this role. Power Station design knowledge (AGR, PWR, EPR or general NPP) Maintenance Engineering, Preventative Maintenance and Ageing and Obsolescence experience suitable skills and knowledge to assist in this role Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas Project Management, Bid Management, Coordination and Organisational skills are preferred Knowledge of budget and schedule management Overall project commercial awareness
