Grade D - £27,277 (National Framework) or £32,679 (London Framework – if you are London office based or homebased and live within the boundary of the M25) – There is also an additional homeworking allowance of £553 per annum for those working from home

Contracted Hours: Full time 37 hours per week (Part time hours may be considered)

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: We can offer homebased working, office based or talk to us about flexible working.

  You will be based in the Data Engineering team but will have opportunities for collaboration across multiple teams including Data Science and Visualisation.

What you will bring…
You will have some experience of data manipulation and analysis of data using appropriate technologies, for example, Excel and R Studio. You should also have basic experience in assessing and analysing business issues or problems and identifying and planning appropriate solutions.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, code, test, fix and document simple programmes or scripts under the direction of others.
  • Work with data tools to contribute to the designing, building and testing of basic data pipelines and services, based on feeds from multiple systems using a range of different storage technologies and/or access methods provided by the Enterprise Data Platform, with a focus on creating repeatable and reusable components and products, guided and supported by senior colleagues.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Data Engineering team to effectively translate requirements into solutions.
  • Contribute to the delivery of robust, supportable and sustainable data solutions in accordance with agreed organisational standards that ensure services are resilient, scalable and future proof alongside the Data Engineer and Senior Data Engineer.
  • Apply a basic understanding of the concepts and principles of data modelling to inform the design of data pipelines.
  • Clearly, accurately and informatively document and annotate code, routines and other components to enable support, maintenance and future development.
  •  Work with QA Engineers to execute testing where required.
  • Refer to checklists daily to see what has loaded and work with senior colleagues to fix issues that arise. 
  • Learn from what has worked as well as what has not, being open to change and improvement and working in ‘smarter’, more effective ways.
  • Support the analysis and resolution of data issues to help provide timely fixes.
  • Ensure careful and thoughtful use and protection of government and public information to ensure it is handled securely and with care, following CQC’s data management principles and policies.
  • Design and undertake appropriate quality control and assurance for delivery of output. 
  • Promote a strong data culture across CQC in line with the organisational data strategy.
  • Role model inclusive behaviours in everyday interactions. 
  • Promote a culture of respect and fairness and understand personal responsibilities around delivering against CQC diversity and inclusion strategy. 
  • Demonstrate competence and support others to achieve behavioural excellence through our Success Profiles (Grade D) ensuring yourself and those you work with are the best that they can be.
  • Role model and support others to instil our values into everything that we do. 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Some experience of data manipulation and analysis of data using appropriate technologies (e.g. Excel, R Studio).
  • Some theoretical understanding of product and/or solution development lifecycles using frameworks/methodologies such as Agile, SAFe, DevOps.
  • Basic experience in assessing and analysing business issues or problems and identifying and planning appropriate solutions.
  • Demonstrable oral and written communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of the health and care sectors.
  • Experience in programming languages for data manipulation (e.g. Python, Scala, SQL).
