Job Title: Commercial Finance Analyst

Base Location: Flexible UK | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however, need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices in either Reading or London.

Salary: £31,339 - £35,892 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern:Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available.

What is the Role?

An opportunity in the Commercial Finance & Performance Team to provide financial support services to the Enterprise business of SSE plc. Our objective is to ensure obligations under commercial contracts and project proposals and/or agreements are met by all parties. Tasks include, but not limited to; liaising with and giving financial advice to the Project Delivery team; calculating, setting, monitoring and reporting on project budgets; and raisinginvoices to clients as required.

A key responsibility is to set up and manage a varied set of projects. You will need to utilise contract documentation and proposals to understand the nature of specific projects and cash flows and ensure accurate input of data to the appropriate project management and financial systems. You must also ensure the management approval process is followed in accordance with business policy.

You should build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and customers, and by taking ownership of issues, ensure they are identified and resolved as effectively and efficiently as possible, making informed decisions in a timely manner, and escalating when necessary.

In recognising that Safety is our number one priority, and that "We do things safely, or not at all", the Commercial Finance Analyst will be expected to engage actively in Safety, Health and Environmental performance.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, you will be a detail-oriented individual with good organisational and communication skills and a curiosity and capacity to understand commercial project issues. The essential technical skills you will need are:

- Competent with Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word / Excel / PowerPoint), Office 365 and SharePoint. Experience of Microsoft Power BI would be an advantage but not essential.

- Basic finance knowledge including budgets, forecasts, costs and revenue analysis.

- Familiar with Oracle Harmony or similar financial system.

- Commercially aware, ideally with a good understanding of the utilities industry and of project management systems and / or project lifecycle processes

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an attention to detail

- Ability to understand, translate and present information collated from various formats to aid decision making.

- To be successful in this role you will be an excellent team playerwith strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills. We are looking for a confident and resilient individual who takes the initiative to challenge the status quo, and has a positive, problem-solving attitude.
