About the job

• To provide assistance with the production of South Western Railway Engineering timetables and checking of late possession requests from Network Rail.
• To produce PIS (passenger information codes)
• Also provide support within the Train Planning team as required.
• Utilise understanding of timings, rolling stock diagramming and train crew diagramming for both engineering works and special events. Also the impact this causes our customers and business with regards to efficient use of resources and our performance.

Principal accountabilities:

• Assist as directed with the production of South Western Railway Engineering Timetables, and to check all late engineering requests from Network Rail then agree / reject requests and if required highlight train service alterations.
• Produce PIS codes.
• Act as a positive role model at all times in all matters relating to Health and Safety.

General responsibilities:

• Taking reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of any person who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work
• Carrying out any work in accordance with any training, instruction, or company procedure that is relevant to your position
• Informing your Line Manager of any health and safety problems identified to you by your staff or any other person
• Using any safety equipment provided by South Western Railway in a proper and appropriate manner.

Safety responsibilities specific to the post:

• You are familiar with, understand and discharge to the best of you ability the specific safety responsibilities associated with your post and any other safety responsibilities allocate to you, from time to time and in writing, by your Line Manager.

You'll need to have:

• A good understanding of timetables and engineering possessions and the impact of these on the Train Plan.
• A good knowledge of South Western Railway Geography
• Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent

Working pattern

Working an average of 37 hours per week over 5 days
