As the nation’s second largest food retailer, we want to offer an environment where all of our 185,000 colleagues can thrive. Somewhere they can become the best versions of themselves. And we do that by investing in training, development and multiple initiatives to offer our colleagues every opportunity to truly shine.

We’re continually expanding our offer, to help our customers live well for less in all sorts of exciting ways, and creating exciting careers paths along the way. Join us and you’ll find opportunities come thick and fast. You’ll find an inclusive environment that values community, and your contribution to it. A place where everyone is encouraged and supported to make a difference.

More about Sainsbury's

Our Values

Living healthier lives

We're famous for being a retailer that provides great food at fair prices, and we're committed to making sure all of the goods we sell is the best it can be.  We also want to help our customers' live healthier lives and that's why we also look to make our food as healthy as it can be, without compromising on taste and flavour – we've been reducing sugar and salt from a number of our own brand products like juice and breads. We also help our customers to live healthier lives

Sourcing with integrity

We're committed to sourcing quality products at fair prices in a way that's better for the animals, farmers, growers and workers involved. Many of our products have independent accreditations, including Marine Stewardship Council, Woodland Trust and RSPA accreditation. We're working together with lots of our farmers and growers through Development Groups to ensure we are sustainable, ethical and fit for the future.

Respect for our environment

We aim to be the greenest retailer by working on the environmental impact of our stores and supply chain, how we make and package our products, and how we help our customers make more environmentally-friendly choices. Wasting less is really important to our customers and to us, so we pride ourselves on minimising our waste and helping our customers waste less and save more.

Making a positive difference to our community

We want to be at the heart of the communities we serve; helping those communities and being a good neighbour through local charity partnerships with. In addition to locally-based community work, we also partner with a number of national charities including Comic Relief – our partnership started in 1999 and we continue to support Red Nose Day and Sport Relief each year.

A great place to work

Making everybody welcome and supporting every single colleague to be the best they can be is at the heart of being a place where colleagues love to work. And if we get that right, we'll be a place where people love to shop. Our Great Place to Work groups give colleagues a voice to shape their workplace and initiatives like mentoring help our colleagues build their skills.

Diversity

Our vision is to be ‘to be the most inclusive and trusted retailer where people love to work and shop.’

Since 1869, helping customers live well for less has been at the very heart of what we do. Offering great quality and service at fair prices – across food, clothing, homeware and financial services – whenever and wherever they want it. And as our customers lives change, so does our business. In 2016, we acquired Home Retail Group and brought Argos and Habitat into our brands, creating one of the UK’s leading food and non-food retailers. Across our Group we’re committed to recruiting, retaining and developing diverse and talented people. And creating an inclusive environment where everyone can be the best versions of themselves, and where diverse views are listened to and encouraged.
