ABOUT

The Carer Confident benchmarking scheme is operated by Employers for Carers (EfC), Carers UK’s business forum. The scheme supports employers to build a positive and inclusive workplace for staff who are, or will become, carers and to make the most of the talents that carers can bring to the workplace. Carer Confident seeks to recognise employers who achieve this, and to inspire others to follow suit.

The certificate of achievement is presented to employers with a UK presence who demonstrate they have built a workplace where carers are recognised, respected and supported. Carer Confident employers recognise the importance of retaining valued members of staff, reducing absence and unnecessary recruitment costs, and increasing staff resilience, engagement and productivity.

Carer Confident has three levels designed to support employers throughout their journey towards building a positive and inclusive workplace.

The three levels of the Carer Confident scheme are:

Level 1: Active in addressing carer support

Level 2: Accomplished in providing carer support

Level 3: Ambassador for carer support both internally and externally

Prospective job applicants should look out for the Carer Confident levels mark and can also visit the list of Carer Confident accredited employers here.

Employers for Carers is a membership forum for employers. It has evolved to include leading organisations across the public, private and voluntary sectors, supported by the specialist knowledge of Carers UK. Our purpose is to ensure that employers have the support they need to retain and empower employees with caring responsibilities.

You can view the list of EfC member organisations here.

Carers UK is a national charity for carers giving expert advice, information and support. Every day 12,000 people become carers and many don’t know how or where to get help. Carers UK is here to listen, give expert information and advice that’s tailored to carers’ own situations, champion carers’ rights and support carers in finding new ways to manage at home, at work, or wherever they are.
