Trevor McKinnon Head of MOD Unarmed Guarding Service (MGS) said in a letter to all MGS staff:
Trevor McKinnon – Head of Unarmed Guarding
I am delighted to be able to announce that the MOD Guard Service has won the Team of the Year Award at this year's Government Security Awards. As we come towards the anniversary of the first period of lockdown, this Award is a fitting tribute to everyone in the MGS for the hard work and dedication displayed by all over a difficult and challenging year.
Throughout the last year, our wonderful MGS officers have very much been there, presenting themselves for duty every day. They have adjusted to new COVID-safe systems of work and continuing to ensure that our defence establishments remained safe and secure. Our Officers continued to provide an outstanding service while the footfall and visitor volumes reduced, and so many people worked from home. The fantastic MGS Head Office team has worked tirelessly to provide everything needed to ensure the service could continue to be delivered safely and to the right standard by those on the ground. It has been a truly wonderful team effort and this Award is a fitting tribute to all in MGS. As Head of Unarmed Guarding I couldn't be prouder, and all MGS team members should all be very proud.
MGS has shown itself to be a high-quality service provider and seeks to continuously improve its service through the engagement of a diverse workforce, trained and committed to the task.
