About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.

Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

The SZC Technical Lead duties are primarily focused on the performance of the SZC data lake as the core data management tool on the project, leading a small team of data engineers to ensure high quality, timely migration of data from various source systems to the SZC data lake. Key responsibilities include:
  • Using data mining techniques to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns monitoring data quality and removing corrupt data.
  • Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals. Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
  • Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization's goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Work collaboratively with IT, Reporting and the wider organisation to better understand technical requirements and easily relay these with both technical and non-technical staff
  • Establish and foster working relationships with all appropriate stakeholders pursuant to the discharging of your responsibilities or in aid of theirs.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the wider SZC Project Controls function to develop the capability of the team using knowledge from HPC and wider experience.


Here's What You'll Need:

  • Degree or equivalent suitable qualification / experience.
  • Experience with software development in one or more programming languages. Experience with data structures/algorithms, building Data Platforms, Datalakes and Business Intelligence solutions
  • Experience as a data engineer: implementing data pipelines (using Pyspark, Spark SQL, Scala, etc), orchestration tools/services (i.e. Airflow, data factory) and testing frameworks.
  • 1 year plus of experience in a technical leadership role
  • Experience in one of the main cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud or Azure) and Big Data services (EMR, Databricks, Synapse, HDInsight, Kinesis, Snowflake, etc.)
  • Experience Skilled in use of the Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other office applications..
  • Exhibits analytical approach with high level problem solving ability.
