About The Opportunity:

As the Jacobs Cities & Places team, we create thriving places across different scales - from regions to cities, neighbourhoods to individual buildings and all through an integrated design approach. We have a tremendous opportunity in front of us to build upon our strengths and develop an interdisciplinary planning, design and delivery practice that is uniquely Jacobs, that sets the direction for the industry and is home to the very best and brightest design thinkers, disruptors, technical experts, visionaries and storytellers.

Our business unit brings together engineers, architects, surveyors, urban designers, project managers and transport planners to provide collaborative and coordinated value design solutions for our clients, both nationally and internationally.

We are focused on the integration of smart and digitally connected placemaking with physical places to create better places. We are passionate about creating innovative and sustainable places that improve the quality of life for our clients and their communities. As the Smart Places and Digital Infrastructure Team Lead, you will be at the forefront of shaping innovative and digitally connected spaces that enhance the overall quality of life for communities. Your role will encompass three main pillars: Business Development, Team Development and Project Ownership. You will have the opportunity to grow a dynamic team, foster creativity, and drive transformative projects that combine technology, sustainability and community engagement.

We are a multi-disciplinary team and work on a wide variety of projects from individual smart buildings to neighbourhood-scale developments and city-wide strategies in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. We collaborate with colleagues in many disciplines, from urban design to economics and from social value to infrastructures such as energy and transport. We work in many sectors from local and national government to retail and from aviation to leisure and entertainment. Our work is rooted in our clients' values, and in Jacobs' values - challenging today and reinventing tomorrow to create a better world. We are looking for a talented and motivated Team Manager to join our team and help us continue to lead the way in smart and digitally connected placemaking.

This role is to be based on a Hybrid basis from one of our offices in London, Birmingham or Bristol.

Some Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute business plans for smart and digitally connected placemaking projects
  • Develop a team of placemaking experts in the development and delivery of projects
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the realm of smart placemaking - engaging with potential clients, partners and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to create strategies that promote the team's services and solutions
  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of smart placemaking projects, from concept development to execution and completion, ensuring that projects are delivered within budget, on time and in line with client expectations and quality standards

Here's What You'll Need:

  • Master's degree in engineering, urban planning, technology, architecture or a related field
  • Experience of developing and delivering strategies or urban planning projects for cities, regions, developments and communities to help them harness the potential of digital technologies
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or project management within the smart city planning, urban development, real estate, or technology sectors
  • Hold key industry wide connections to support team business development
  • Have expertise in both relevant technologies (such as 4G / 5G communications, IoT, big data / analytics etc.) and their business, social and economic impact and their role in placemaking
  • Experience and knowledge of a range of relevant sectors such as transportation, planning, property development or utilities
  • Experience working with planners, urban designers and other built environment design disciplines
