Student Chaplaincy Worker (Building Community)

This is a casual, one year appointment (may be extendable to two years).

Working hours may be on average 3-4 hours per week.

We are looking to appoint a Student Chaplaincy Worker on a short-term basis to help support and enhance the work of the Chaplaincy in the University, starting on Monday 19th October 2026.

The successful applicant will be a current undergraduate or postgraduate student of the University and will be responsible for carrying out duties related to one of the specific areas of the Chaplaincy's work as well as co-operating with two other Student Chaplaincy Workers, the Chaplaincy Administrative Assistant, and the Dean of Chapel. This will involve:

• helping to plan, deliver, and participate in a programme of activities/trips that will help build our community and/or raise awareness of ethical concerns;

• making opportunities to meet with members of the student body and offering them a listening ear and a friendly face;

• offering Chaplaincy hospitality to people via other chaplaincy activities and events;

• building creative and supportive relationships between the Chaplaincy and other significant student groups; and

• showing some level of commitment to welcoming members of the community to the Chaplaincy's programme of worship and prayer.

Applicants from all faith backgrounds (or none) are welcome, as long as they respect the University's Church foundation and the Chaplaincy's inclusive character.

The successful applicant will also have skills that can be used in the development of different media and resources in worship, be open to different approaches to worship, have an experience of working well in a team, be flexible enough to engage in occasional weekend or evening duties, and be at ease with a wide variety of religious outlooks.
