Job summaryThe post holder:
Takes a role in the implementation and provision of Sexual Health outreach activities across West Sussex, reflecting the key findings of the West Sussex Sexual Health Needs Assessment (2025) and Public Health Outcome Framework Indicators. The post holder will demonstrate specialist knowledge in the assessment, development, care, delivery and evaluation of programmes of care for clients of all ages, working with health inclusion groups and often in non-health care settings, they will also share specialist knowledge, health promotion and skills with all staff within the ISHS and those services being supported
Works with the Operational Group to ensure the service design and processes meet local and national initiatives, targets, contractual expectations and key performance indicators, demonstrating the planning and implementation of an integrated model for sexual health.
Acts as a role model for best practice, demonstrating Trust Values and providing specialist knowledge and advice to other staff both within the service and in partner agencies
Main duties of the jobProvides up to date, accurate information, health education, advice and support to service users and their relatives/carers such as explaining diagnosis of a STI/HIV or contraceptive choices to a patient or partner, using skilled interpersonal interactions. Communicates varied, highly sensitive and complicated information (verbally and in writing) in a way that is understood and gets important facts across and where there may be barriers to understanding such as challenging behaviour, language, cultural, mental health or neurodiversity vulnerabilities.

Acting as a professional role model, works as an advanced practitioner, demonstrating clinical expertise in the care of any patients. Manages a clinical workload effectively, ensuring it is prioritised appropriately through triage and working closely with other members of the team. In consultation with clients uses nursing skills to assess their contraceptive and sexual health needs in order to provide a range of appropriate options, individualised advice and care and relevant teaching and demonstration regarding the chosen method of contraception. Advises other staff members on appropriate choices for patient care based on a range of options through consultation, assess risk for STI, pregnancy and BBV, based on facts which may be complex/high risk. Offer and provide relevant tests/screening including, bi-manual and testicular examinatioas appropriate and following analysis of the results/findings, treatment options and specialist programmes of care. Offers PEP, PEPSI and PREP to those at high risk of BBV following assessment and ensuring patients return for follow up; completes both partner and provider notification which can be complex and highly emotive requiring empathy and reassurance.

Experience/Qualifications Essential - Study at degree level or equivalent level of knowledge
- Nationally recognised approved CASH qualification e.g. NDFRSH; NA 298/NA394/NA6138; ENB 90/900/R71
- Letter of Competence for Sub Dermal Implants insertion and removal
Desirable - Study to Masters level
- Advanced STIF Competencies Non-medical prescribing
- PG Cert in Education, Post graduate module in Supporting Education in Practice or equivalent teaching qualification
