Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with full and current UK NMC registration
  • CoSRH Diploma in contraceptive or equivalent
  • Evidence recent professional development
  • Recognised mentorship and preceptorship or willingness to undertake


Desirable criteria
  • STIF Level 2 competence/GUM course
  • CoSRH LoC SDI and IUD, or willingness to train.
  • Non-medical Prescriber qualification


Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as CASH nurse
  • Experience of health promotion and education
  • Experience of effective teaching, mentoring and assessing
  • Evidence of working with staff from different professional disciplines
  • Able to utilise evidence in practice.
  • To be proficient in screening of asymptomatic and symptomatic people
  • Experience of managing/coordinating teamwork


Desirable criteria
  • Experience in gynaecology, HIV, counselling, research, outreach, and other experience related to the speciality or willing to undertake training.
  • Evidence of practice development
  • Evidence of utilising clinical supervision
  • To work under Patient Group Directives (PGDs)
  • Participation in audit/research
  • Management training


Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Venepuncture
  • Administering treatments and vaccinations
  • Ability to work as part of a team, to make decisions and work autonomously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain clear, accurate and concise records.
  • Able to identify nursing and relevant clinical needs of patients within the specialty.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Fraser guidelines in relation to consent for medical advice and treatment
  • Demonstrates good all-round knowledge of issues affecting profession and changes within that framework


Desirable criteria
  • Experience in dealing with difficult situations
  • Point of care testing for BBV's
  • Bi-manual examinations
