Our market leading Energy and Construction team now has a rare opportunity for a Senior Construction Underwriter to join them based out of our London office.
Your contribution at AIG
In this role you will:
Underwrite new business to meet profitability targets.
Underwrite in line with the Energy & Construction governance framework e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines and Functional Rules.
Drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including Market Management, Risk Consulting, Claims and Operations.
Manage referrals and undertake 4-eye reviews with underwriters.
Contribute to the development and execution of regional underwriting strategy.
Create and maintain positive relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders.
Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued to producers.
Provide training and support to junior members of the Energy & Construction team.
What we are looking for
Preferably, you have a degree either in Engineering/Construction, economics, law or other appropriate discipline.
Ideally you are ACII qualified or working towards it.
You will have extensive experience underwriting profitable business in the Engineering & Construction segment of a large corporate international insurance firm.
You have recognized relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and are well established within the market.
You have a specialized understanding of regional / local Engineering & Construction insurance markets and competitor landscape.
Capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective.
You have a good understanding of the legal and regulatory environment.
You can design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings for contracts.
Excellent negotiation skills, ability to build, maintain and expand relationship with key broker partners and clients.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
You should be results-oriented.
