Shape the Future of Our Estate

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced estates professional to join our Property Department on an interim basis as Senior Strategy & Assets Lead.

Reporting to the Head of Strategy & Assets, you will play a key role in delivering a priority programme within our Estates Strategy. Working closely with senior stakeholders and partner organisations, you will help shape the future of the Force's estate by translating strategic objectives into practical, deliverable solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong public sector estates background who enjoys influencing strategic decision-making and leading the early stages of estate development projects.

About the Role

As the Senior Strategy & Assets Lead, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering strategic programmes and projects that inform the future direction of the estate. You will undertake option appraisals, feasibility studies and business case development, ensuring strategic priorities are translated into clear recommendations and actionable plans.

You will engage with a wide range of stakeholders, facilitate workshops and meetings, and provide expert advice to support informed decision-making. Your work will have a direct impact on how our estate evolves to meet future operational needs.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a motivated and highly skilled professional who can demonstrate:
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to build relationships, ask insightful questions and provide constructive challenge.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a positive and proactive approach to overcoming challenges and developing practical solutions.
  • Experience of leading and facilitating workshops and meetings to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Professional membership with RICS or an equivalent professional body such as CIOB, IWFM or RIBA.
  • Knowledge and experience of workplace strategy, space planning and estate utilisation to develop effective accommodation solutions.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with experience developing, evaluating and presenting complex business cases and option appraisals.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple datasets accurately and produce high-quality reports and recommendations.
  • Knowledge and experience of RIBA Stages 0-2 within the Plan of Work framework.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Strong collaboration and partnership working skills, with a focus on driving positive outcomes across teams and organisations.
  • The ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks and deliver results with minimal supervision.

Why Join Us?

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-profile strategic programme, influencing the future development of the Force's estate and ensuring it remains fit for purpose for years to come. You will work alongside experienced professionals, senior leaders and key partners in a role that offers both challenge and impact.

If you are an experienced estates professional looking to make a meaningful contribution within a dynamic public sector environment, we would love to hear from you.

If you are a permanent member of staff applying for this role, please note it will be offered on a secondment basis. Important: All secondments must be supported in writing by your Line Manager and Head of Department/Commander or Deputy. Please attach written approval from your line manager and Head of Department in your application. If the secondment is not supported then the role may be offered on a fixed term contract basis, but this has implications including loss of continuous service protections.

Please note: Shift allowance, on-call or other job related allowances from the previous role will not be protected unless they are attached to the new role for the duration of the secondment.

As part of the Thames Valley Police family you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 30 days annual leave per annum, pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme.
