Our Organisation:

The Football Association (The FA) is the governing body of football in England. We are responsible for promoting and developing the game at all levels; from grass roots through to the professional game, The FA Cup and the England International teams, and has two core assets: Wembley Stadium and St George's Park.

The Role:
  • Work as an integral part of the safeguarding team overseeing the proactive preventative safeguarding work in football.
  • Be the point of contact for all safeguarding matters at St George's Park and Wembley Stadium, including overseeing all safeguarding concerns.
  • Manage and implement policy, procedures, protocols and guidance across FA Operations, ensuring that safeguarding is embedded, monitored and reviewed across all operations at St George's Park (SGP) and Wembley events.
  • Contribute to the strategic approach to safeguarding across football and the duty of care work with the elite development squads, attending the relevant meetings internally and externally.
  • Please note this role will be primarily based at our St. George's Park Location with some travel to Wembley and other locations.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Manage the operational safeguarding groups at St George's Park and Wembley Stadium, to develop and oversee the delivery and continuous review of safeguarding action plans.
  • Support the embedding of safeguarding policy, protocols, education, guidance, risk assessments, safeguarding and welfare plans across SGP and technical operations, including events (FA and third-party-owned), camps and tournaments involving U18s or Adults.
  • Provide support, guidance and quality assurance to Team Operations re pre-tour recce and camps.
  • Support the Wembley Events team in its safeguarding delivery and oversee the work of any safeguarding consultants and the Event Safeguarding Advisors.
  • Provide support as needed in the management of safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate records are maintained, overseeing all referrals to The FA safeguarding case team and local authorities as appropriate.
  • Provide bespoke safeguarding briefings for SGP and Wembley events as needed.
  • Contribute to the content and delivery of face to face safeguarding training to relevant staff, consultants and volunteers.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Officer for specific events, as required.
  • Work with HR to support the implementation of DBS checking processes and the recording of staff safeguarding training.
  • Be an influential advocate for safeguarding and player welfare, promoting, communication and representing this work effectively internally and externally.
  • Contribute to the review and update of current safeguarding best practice guidance and develop new areas of guidance.
  • Execute additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.


Essential Skills:
  • Enthusiasm and passion for safeguarding children and adults.
  • Experience of implementing safeguarding policy and best practice.
  • Experience of supporting safeguarding and player welfare in elite sport pathways. Experience of managing safeguarding and wellbeing concerns with statutory agencies.
  • Experience of having managed safeguarding referrals
  • Experience of delivering presentations at all levels.
  • Experience of developing tailored and differentiated learning and development programmes and resources.
  • Proven experience in project management.
  • Competent skills in Microsoft Office.

Desirable:
  • Experience of working with statutory agencies, attending strategy meetings and case conferences.
  • Experience of working in football.
  • A professional background in child and or adults at risk centred work.

Please note you will require a full clean driving licence for this role.
