Essex Conty Concil (ECC) are delighted to be spporting Maldon District Concil to recrit a Senior Planning Officer on a three-month temporary basis. Please note that this role reqires days a week site attendance.

Key Accontabilities

To contribte towards the delivery a high qality, cstomer focsed Planning & Implementation department with high standards of advice and spport, resolving cases of varying complexities in Development Management. Ensre compliance with stattory reglations, legislation, professional codes of practice and adherence to Concil policy. Deliver projects, interventions and initiatives and develop policies in line with corporate and bsiness plans. To deal effectively and efficiently with general enqiries, pre-applications, planning applications and planning appeals ensring cases are managed and completed at the appropriate level of skillset. Ensre and develop appropriate levels of qality and specialist knowledge with other Planning & Implementation colleages.

Deliver cstomer-focsed specialist advice and services in Development Management, keeping p to date with crrent and emerging legislation, best practice and policy to ensre continos development and improvement in services.

Manage complex and/or contentios planning applications, processes and compliance, reglations and legislation, acting as the single point of contact for cstomers on those cases and attending appeals hearings and pblic inqiries as appropriate.

Spport, gide and advise Gradate Planners and Technical Spport colleages, as necessary.

Working collaboratively with colleages across the organisation, as well as Members and managing key relationships with partners inclding Essex Conty Concil and Local Concils and other stakeholders

Access and accrately pdate all relevant information systems, both cstomer and back office ensring that the master cstomer record is pdated and maintained throgh verification and validation, and in accordance with Data Protection principles

Prepare and present reports to Area Planning Committees, District Planning Committee, and other internal and external meetings and present evidence/stand as witness at planning appeal hearings and pblic inqiries.

Ensre own personal and professional development is maintained inclding keeping p to date with relevant law, policies, working practices and procedres.

The Experience Yo Will Bring

Proven ability to give sond advice and gidance on a broad range of planning cases, topics or isses

Experience of Town Planning applications within a broad range of complexity and contentiosness, with some gidance and spport of more experienced staff, occasionally referring to Principals, Team Manager and/or Head of Service for work otside previos experience

Ability to enforce legislation where a breach of planning control is sspected
