Job summary

A position has arisen for a part-time Senior Clinical Trial coordinator role within the community. The community research portfolio is expanding and we are looking for a flexible coordinator to support the delivery of upcoming research projects. The applicant will be motivated to work in different locations to support the clinical team and assist with community projects.

Main duties of the job

o Responsible for the day-to-day coordination and oversight of allocated clinical trials in the Department.o Responsible for the set-up and conduct of allocated clinical trials in accordance with regulatory, sponsor and organisational requirements.o Ensure clinical trials within the Unit are conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practice and Trust SOPs.o Review the capacity and resource requirements within the Clinical unit for coordination and administrative management of the allocated trials and to advise the unit head accordingly.o To be an active member of the department, providing regular reports on activity within the Department and highlighting areas of concern.

Primary areas of responsibility:

Trial set-up

To liaise with R&D, pharmacy, finance, laboratories, and other support departments in set up of trials and assessment of capacity and capability. To liaise with Sponsors and R&D regarding clinical trial contracts.

Trial conduct

Initiate and manage day to day running of allocated trial(s) in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and The Royal Marsden (RM) / Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ensure trial specific responsibilities delegated by the Sponsor to the Chief Investigator (CI) / Principal Investigator (PI) are carried out in accordance with sponsor contract.

Trial closure

To ensure trial closure is notified to R&D. Assist in conducting the Trial Close Out visit and associated tasks.

Communication & networking

Act as a point of contact for trial sponsors and to communicate directly with them regarding data queries, monitoring visits and other enquiries relevant to the trial and research team. Communicate with staff at all levels, both internal and external relating to trial activities, regarding information which may be confidential and sensitive in nature.

Essential

  • Life Sciences (or equivalent) degree or relevant experience
Desirable

  • Recent GCP training

  • Experience of working in the NHS or equivalent
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Competence in research orientated PC software including Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Understanding of clinical trials and regulations governing clinical research
  • Good level of spoken and written English

  • Experience of data entry and data management
