Job Advert

Are you an organised, proactive professional with a passion for partnership working and intelligence-led policing? We are seeking a Sector Liaison Officer (SLO) to join the South East Regional Prison Intelligence Team (SERPIT), a specialist team within Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) and the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU).

This is a part-time position working 14.5 hours per week (Thursday and Friday) and offers the opportunity to work at the heart of a specialist intelligence environment, supporting critical partnerships that help identify, assess and manage risks posed by offenders. You will join a dedicated team committed to protecting the public and strengthening collaborative working across law enforcement and partner agencies.

As a Sector Liaison Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting Prison Intelligence Officers who work with offenders serving custodial sentences. Acting as a key point of contact for police forces and partner agencies across the South East, you will help ensure intelligence enquiries are progressed efficiently and effectively, while providing essential administrative and coordination support.

You will build and maintain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, facilitating effective information sharing and ensuring the right agencies are engaged at the right time. Your work will directly support intelligence development, risk assessment and operational decision-making. The role may also involve working within a prison environment on occasion.

We are looking for someone who can confidently manage information and build positive working relationships across multiple organisations.

You will have:
  • Experience of gathering, analysing and assessing information within a threat, harm or risk-based environment.
  • The ability to present information clearly, accurately and within tight timescales.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Confidence in working independently, making decisions and solving problems with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication, time management and IT skills.
  • A professional and collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement.

This role forms part of a national, regional and local intelligence network. As such, travel for business purposes will be required and may include destinations across the UK, not solely within the South East region.

Applicants must therefore hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel as required. Flexibility regarding working hours is also essential to meet operational demands, and there may be occasions where overnight stays away from home are necessary.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National andhave resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and those studying abroad. Please be aware that if successful there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries once in post

You can find more information about security vetting .
