Carmichael UK are recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a major Tier 1 highways contractor delivering a high-profile infrastructure project in East London.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term scheme and play a key role in the successful delivery of complex highways works, working alongside an established site team on a flagship project. The role aligns with responsibilities typically expected of a Section Engineer delivering highways and roadworks packages.
The Role

As Section Engineer, you will be responsible for managing a section of works from planning through to delivery, ensuring quality, programme and safety objectives are achieved. You will provide technical support to site teams, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure engineering activities are delivered efficiently. Responsibilities commonly include overseeing engineering requirements, managing documentation, supporting quality processes, and coordinating site activities.
Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Section Engineer on highways or major infrastructure projects
• Strong setting out and engineering background
• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating site activities
• Knowledge of quality assurance processes, ITPs and inspection records
• Ability to interpret drawings and resolve technical issues on site
• CSCS Card
• Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• SMSTS preferred
